Inquiring minds want to know. How good is the D-S De Esser on the API 525? It just appears to have a button, with no parameters to set.

The "DS" on a 525 is handy. It does what it's supposed to do rather transparently, though without any control of corner frequency or threshold...but if it's working too hard it will tell you right away. If you're dealing with a vocalist that needs more than a little de-essing, or you'd like to have a bit more control over the process...the Empirical Labs "DerrEsser" is a tool more fit for that job.

When I patch in a 525...I'm not using it for the deesser. Overdriven guitars on 2:1? All day.
