It is very clean - but has good atmosphere and dimension - I would say 90% that it is OTB or a really fine ITB mix.

Anyway - if it is ITB mix than I am sure it was tracked well with good analog equipment, some compression & EQ applyed already during tracking and the ITB mix was afterwards more of a final touch and adding FX and balance...

Those things are getting ridiculous. Obviously nobody knows a **** these days from just listening. So, what is it? Obviously nobody cares anymore.

It's so funny to me how everyone says they don't care, yet they read the post and comment.

I mean, everyone knows it's so "out of fashion" to be waste your time with this nonsense.

Not trying to be a jerk, but it just humors me.

edit: I just saw your smile "" at the end of your post. Maybe you, like me, were being sarcastic!

If i had to guess....ITB...and also probably a digital recording.

it lacks a certain "something".......very cleanly done tho.

what is that silence in the middle of the song? sounds better to me after the silence.
also sounds louder, so maybe I'm mistaken...

Oh, I do care... And yes, I was being a little ironic... sarcastic is maybe too strong a word for this...

And also - to another poster - I also like it better after the silence - but probably just a different part of the same mix... I am very suspicious it is ITB, but sounds quite nice and OTBoxish to me... just too clean and dry for my taste...but hey - 80% of today's mainstream production sounds too sterile to me... I like jazz, ethno, progressive rock, lo-fi and on the other hand - high quality audiophile acoustic, natural, classical, etc.

This clip is not exactly my cup of tea, but still - the man is trying to show something...

I still guess - if it is ITB - it is well recorded with some analog compression and/or EQ... ITB should sound nice afterwards...
But maybe it is OTB like I said - or at least - ITB through summing box which shouldn't count as ITB to me!

Is that intentionally the Stairway to Heaven guitar solo?

After the silence the bass guitar seems deeper... Maybe I'm wrong, as usual

I bet it's ITB, especially for the first part.

Yes, the question itself is a dead giveaway.

For some reason, I did listen. Sounds digital to me. Not that there's anything wrong with that in and of itself.

thanks for answers.
drums (yamaha rec. custom) was recorded through 2x SP-828 and aurora 16 to PT.
Bass, gtrs, vocs - 6176 with no compression, aurora 16 to the PT
piano - NI akustik piano

mixed internally with waves plugs for about 5-7 hours... this is same mix, just shorten with fades.

I agree that the question it's self was sort of a give away.

But the mix sounds great, keep up the good work man, good stuff!

yes, you nailed the polished pop sound. It is too sterile for my taste, as I said, but you managed to give it enough space and openess while still being "comercially" loud - so I went for OTB. Wrong this time... Lynx converters are obviously very ok and UA channel strip sounds cool to me, also the cheap preamps for the drums obviously work well. And you know how to mix it poppy, cool.

best.

I knew it was ITB, but it is a good mix, doesn't matter what technique was used!!!
Congrats!
