Recording bells...

Does anyone have any tips for recording bells well. Like mics/preamps that work well. I am mainly interested in recording vibraphone and glockenspiel and I have these rather large bass bells that are really amazing. Thanks.

My experience is that bells record very easy! If it's not to big an instrument, I often just put one large condenser high above the glock or vibra. Spring reverb to make it stereo. Old skool.

I have a set of these gamelan freenotes and the bass is truly ridiculous.
