I have been offered a pair of.... Studio Monitors

I have been offered a pair of....

Second hand for £500. OR I trade my tannoy reveal actives and £250.

Sound like a deal? The guy doesn't care too much and wants cash but wants to STILL have a pair of speakers. He bought them for a pirate radio station without researching, just went into a shop and left with them.

The thing im worried about is...he's had ONE running for like 4 months now, the other 1 has been at home. (he never sorted out the space to have both running)

Will that affect performance?

That's about $1000 USD correct? If so it's not a bad deal. The price in the US is about $1300/pair brand new. As far as having one of them run way longer than the other, it shouldn't be that big of a deal. You may have to burn the unused one in for a while, but trust your ears. If they sound good to you they should be fine.

Looks like Thomann do them new for about GBP 910 a pair (including shipping and VAT), so, assuming they are in good shape, that sounds like a pretty decent deal.

Even better deal if you decide to go for the Tannoy + 250 quid deal.

I can promise you that you won't be sorry for the upgrade. You will hear so much more deeply into the mix with the ASP-8s

You could always keep the Tannoys as a secondary reference . . . but you probably won't need it.

I've got the original 20/20bas and I've been very happy with them (I've always felt that mixes done with the Events translated well to other systems, and I often found I heard things on the Events that I didn't hear on the Mackies), but the ASP-8s are a noticeable step up from the 20/20bas.

If I had the extra money to upgrade monitors now, the ASP-8s would certainly be on my short list (though I've also got a woodie for a pair of PMCs and a Bryston amp). I need more acoustics treatment in my current place, though (sadly, even I don't get RealTraps products for free!), and that takes priority over a monitor upgrade.
