Does anyone know, what is the Oram Sonics?

Just wondering, what is the Oram Sonics really, and can I live without it?

Here for the gear

ORAM SONICS ???

There is a technical answer to what is Oram Sonics and it would be best if he answered that. We know it has something to do with Group Delay and low frequencies not affecting high frequencies.
Al Schmitt knows what it is and what it does. He likes it.
Malcolm Toft analysed it when he got it for the original Trident designs from Oram in the 70s and 80s and when he started MTA in the 90s with Oram he said:
"John Oram, was responsible not only for that company’s innovative
design techniques, but also the unique sound quality (sonics)
that Trident became famous for world-wide."
So there it is, not to be confused with Neve Sonics or Manley Sonics, but Sonics you either like, or not, as the case may be. We at Trident Audio like the sonics of the Series 80 and the TSM and many other consoles that possess this property.

The studio I intern at recently sold their 32 CH. ORAM console. It was replaced with an SSL AWS 900+. Everyone was quite happy to see it hauled away. They liked the "ORAM Sonics", but apparently not that much-- they let it go for a steal.

Ahhaaaaa!! I think Im beginning to understand;

Mci has Mci-sonics
Neve has Neve-sonics
SSL has SSL-sonics
Mackie has Mackie-sonics
Neotek has Neotek-sonics
Raindirk has Raindirk-sonics and so on...

But its only oram that writes it on the can, why do they do that? is it because they have to by law or what?
Is it not enough print the logo almost 10 times bigger than other consoles?
Or is it that you can get an Oram mixer both with and with out Oram-Sonics???

right... you're catching on.

But then there are exceptions to the rule, like Spectrasonics.
Spectrasonics just have spectrasonics.

I'll bet Oram Sonics sounds like "Ka-Ching" to Al Schmitt.

When I see a photo of Chuck Ainlay waterskiing whith an Oram product under his arm, I'll believe in Oram Sonics.
