About to make a purchase

'sup guys!

i can afford a great river ME-1NV single channel pre or a TAB Funkenwerk V78.

these two are the ones that most interest me in this price range.

it will be used exclusively on vocals using a Rode NTK tube mic and nothing else.

i did the usual search here and kinda have an idea of what i want but before i plunk the cash down i figure i give my slutz a shout.

which one would you guys choose?

thanks!

The Great River is a great unit, hard to go wrong there. It works on many sources.... but I will say that on my last vocal session with it it was just a touch hard sounding. I could have worked around it but it was just a hair 1 - 2 K forward to me. Depends on the singer, room yadda yadda.....

I don't have a V78 but I do have a TAB Funkenwerk DI and it kicks the snot out of any other DI I have including the Great River.

Not sure that is any help at all, we are talking about different things and at some point you will have to try both yourself... I just like your signature lines so I wanted get you to post a reply.

LOL

"FM is so totally going to The Dark Side" That sh*t cracks me up.

Good luck man, I don't think you could do wrong with either to be honest.

thanks!!! heh

i am kinda leaning towards the great river only because i basically hear more about it.
the TAB doesn't get as much "press" so it's a little harder to get info on it.

you do make a good point, the best would be to try them both.

glad you like the sigs!

cheers!
