A/D conversion with did002...?

I´m thinking, since the 002 doesn´t have word clock ins/outs is it not possible to get a good converter and make it the master word clock which the 002 and my other pre´s slave to?
Just wondering, because I´ve been thinking about getting some high-end preamp soon and I´m guessing that the quality won´t be fully put to use if my digi002 or M-audio octane are the primary conversion units...

Digi-002R + Rosetta 800 =

mic/audio >>>preamps>>>Rosetta 800(adat port)>>>Digi-002(adat port)

But I´m using the ADAT for my M-Audio Octane 8-channel pre... Any other way possible that I´m not seeing, Is it still possible?

yeah. disconnect the octane. connect your better converters to the 002 then connect your mic preamps to your better converters...

or if you are talking about just a stereo converter *rather than 8 channel converts..
get one with spdif output and worclock.
connect the wordclock of the new converter to the octane.
set the new converter to internal sync
set the clock source on your 002 to spdif.
set your octane to sync to wordclock.
