too loud, harmful for mic's?

Hi,

2 Questions:

1.
Large Diaphragm Condenser mic's in front of a guitar amp... Can it be harmful if placed too close? Or can they take it (not ribbons).
And a mic like the octava mk012?

2.
I have an old ribbon Beyer m130... and I think it is broken now! Can this be fixed at the factory? Or get a new one.

I hope this has not been asked before, I could not find it. thanks,

M.

1. possibly, but that mic is a small diaphram condensor, not a LDC

2. Yes

If your worried about putting a mic in front of a cab get a SPL meter. Measure the SPL's comming out of the amp where youd put the mic and check the max SPL on the mic specs. I have no idea what itd be on a oktava.

Ive never had to replace a ribbon on a mic but i know its reletively easily done. You could probably send it to beyer or someone who mods ribbons could replace it for you. I never got deep enough to learn if thats something that can be done by a DIYer or not.
