Appropriate Meter Reading

I am sending some songs that I have tracked in protools of to a mastering house; what is a good level to burn these to cd? I am thinking about -6db will give them enough headroom for any needed/added compression!

Its not so much the peak reading as rms, I tend to stick to about -6/4 peak -23/26 rms. this should leave plenty of room to raise the level.

I will sometimes take a mastered mix and re-gain it so that it is comparable to my mix levels just ot match the tonalities of the mastered mix.
