Ken Scott and Devo

I'm trying to find session info on how the Devo album "Duty Now for the Future" was recorded. If anyone has any info I would appreciate it.

Thanks Spuds!

YEah that record changed my life for sure. When I talk to the Devo guys about it they say it was a crazy set up especially the drums. I know at the time they wanted to not rock so Ken or the band suggested they go direct out of the amps hence giving that fizzy in your face sound on the album.

But wasn't that the album they said they were shafted by Warner to the worst degree, particularly in terms of production? Don't get me wrong, I love that album too, but I just seem to recall (from hearing it back then, dusty old "memory card" may be failing me) that they hated the production.

True/false?

Clock OUUUUTTTT!

Yeah, anyone who knows anything, I'll be avidly reading

Direct on the instruments, I can well believe. The drums are plastic boxes, and guitars are never overdriven very much. Overall those mixes are INSANELY spacious- not 'reverb' space, 'air between the moving parts' space.
