A case for hardware

I freely admit, as I have on other threads, that there's something about plugins and digital recording in general that doesn't sit right with me. I love the convenience, the ability to recall and the almost non existent noise floor, but some flaws just make it less musical. Here's an example of one that just drives me crazy. How can this be not only acceptable but actually expected?

Example: snare drum sample A dry, no plugin
snare drum sample B Lexicon Native through buss 100% effect
snare drum sample C Lexicon Native through buss 0% effect

We just accept that this kind of latency is OK. No wonder I prefer to stay out of the box when I can. By the way, I'm now in the market for a new hardware reverb. Anyone have a Bricasti they want to part with?
