Clarett octopre

How would I run an external preamp into the Clarett octopre? If I used an XLR to 1/4 trs cable from the preamp “output”, would the Clarett try to send a signal back through?

Seems like a really weird design to have inserts set up like this.

What other ADAT preamps have ADAT in and by passable preamps? I found the dp88 but that needs db25 for line outputs. That might be the bullet I have to bite.

No specific budget, but the more affordable the better...to a point. Not sure I’d trust the ada8200

You would simply plug the external preamp's output(s) into any input channel on the Octopre. The variable gain circuitry on the octopre will not color the output of your external preamp in any way.You do not have to be concerned with bypassing the clarett pres to get straight to the ADCs.
