Knob firmness after using Deoxit

Deoxit works wonders but I find that after using it, the knob firmness is lost. I believe it’s eating through some grease or something that provided the resistance when turning it. Is this normal, and is there anything I should do to fix this, or should I just leave it as is?

You are using too much.

The spray bursts I'm using are about 100ms at most on the lowest flow setting. The only way to get less than that would be to get some liquid formula.

A drop or two of the liquid usually works well for me, for a pot or switch. Then just work it back and forth a few times. Rarely takes more than one or two rounds of that.
