So I am using an SPL Neos these days with Burl and apogee symphony converstion....big sound, on the cleaner side. On the master inserts I'm using Neve 542's and LTL Chroma's...each add their thing and sound nice, but I feel the mix is missing some edge, some excitement. Thinking of the Elysia Karacter or the overstayer saturation to add a (very) little distortion to add that element.

Anyone have experience doing this, and how does it work out? Of course you don't want to distort the mix so its really just some dashes like a little salt or pepper.

The Karacter demos don't feature full mixes so don't have a reference to go by...
