Just got Eventide GTR4000 for..

Just picked up an Eventide GTR4000 supposedly in great cosmetic and functional condition for $599, including shipping to Hawaii from the mainland. Wow.

As I recall, the GTR4000 has the sampler like the DSP4500. I'm curious: What would be involved in getting a PCMCIA card and patches from the other harmonizers? In this respect, is it possible to essentially make this like a DSP4500? It's been a while..

Thanks,
slutter

Maybe it was the broadcast version that came with the sampler. Still digging up old info.

Man, the internet really rots over time. For instance, there was a Yahoo group that had all sorts of relevant info on the 4000 line. Seems defunct. Even links to resources on Eventide's website go dead over time..

If I remember correctly, The GTR4000 had 1 of 2 options (Reg & Long) for the sampler. It did come installed as standard. Also the GTR4000 does not include all the DSP math modules to run all the presets of the DSP4000.

The DSP4500 Limited Edition has ALL the presets and DSP modules from GTR4000, DSP4000 & DSP4000B as well as the Reg sampler with an option for the Long Sampler (which is just extra RAM)

There were a few optional PCMCIA cards offered with expanded DSP modules and presets that could be used on the GTR4000, DSP4000 & DSP4000B as long as the PCMCIA card was inserted.

There was no direct way to upgrade a DSP4000 or GTR400 to be exactly same as a DSP4500, but it could come close with the purchased options. Just find and get a DSP4500 if that is what you need or want. Besides DSP4500 is better looking, has better converters, and no PCMCIA cards to deal with.
