MXL V77 vs Wrabler MKVI

The mxl arrived with a 5 star 5751 WA tube inside, it's the old one, isn't it? The rest seems to be original.
Sorry for my slow fingers, I play not so often. A bit of silence in the end see the noise. The Wrabler was 4cm nearer the sound hole than the V77 (recorded at 90cm).

Levin Goya N26 maple + Zoom H4n

EDIT: MXL with GE JG 6072 tube samples in 9th reply

A voice test (I'm not a singer): Gil Scott-Heron's "I'll take care of you"
I feel a bit naked on the V77, don't know if I like it or not or what to do to improve the mic :/
Should I try other capsule on it? Mod the preamp? Change the singer ?

I also have a modded (tube socket and premium NOS 12AY7 tube) MXL V77. It's IMHO the best mic for vocals i've ever had, and I've had many, many mics, including plenty of spendy ones.

I just realized after looking at your pics, that you have a 5751 tube in the V77. That's entirely the wrong tube. The mic will work with a 5751 but it was designed around a 12AY7 and will sound much, much better with a proper NOS 12AY7. It will sound smoother and richer.

Thanks! What about TAD 6072 HighGrade?

No, I wouldn't use any current production tube. Get an NOS (or good used with good readings) American 12AY7. A GE, RCA, Baldwin, Sylvania, Phillips, Zenith, Amperex etc.

In one I focus on my voice, other in the guitar.

Like more the mxl for voice now, thanks Rob!
