How do you integrate a sidecar console?

I get the idea that these are often used for tracking drums and stuff, but how do you integrate it into the primary console for mixing. The main out of the sidecar to one channel of the console?

That’s what patchbays are for. You connect the mic and line inputs, direct outs and anything else into your patchbay and you can easily use it for tracking, mixing, summing etc...

for monitoring you take 2 mono or a stereo input on your main board and run the stereo out of the sidecar into it
