...has been a great help for me for buying headphones. The good thing about the site is that it has lots of objective measurements, and tons of models reviewed following the same template, so it's actually possible to compare what you have, and all the options available locally, on reasonably fair terms.
Is there an equivalent to this site for studio monitors, if your goal is to find something reasonably neutral and transparent?
I'm not sure about the source of this story, but there was a fistfight at a biker bar that had a short hiatus during which someone proposed a studio monitor website for doing comparative analysis. The fighters blinked for a moment and then decided that it would be safer and less violent just to continue punching each other...
They have sound files of the same audio played through different monitors and recorded.
While it's a problem that the studio monitor comparisons will be coloured by your current monitors, it can give you a sense of the strengths and weaknesses of the different products. I tried to go into their website (Sonic Sense Pro), but the site tried to get me to install some browser plugin (it may have been hacked), so I just backed out and would NOT recommend that anybody go to their website.
