Are Yamaha Stagepas 300 viable as studio monitors?

Hello!

I’m decently fresh to the wonderful world of producing music and have been looking to buy a pair of Yamaha HS 7’s. However! After going through my fathers garage I found a pair of Yamaha Stagepas 300’s! Now I wonder the following;

Are the Stagepas 300’s viable to use as studio monitors, until I’ve gotten more experience?

Is the difference between the HS7’s and the 300’s huge?

To use the 300’s, do I need extra gear to make them compatible with a PC?

Thank you!

Sincerely.

Hello.

Monitors are near field speakers, PA speakers are not, so...

No.

don't expect those PA speakers to be accurate or honest, but if it's helpful in the creative process to have your song pumping through air and not just living in headphones, these will pass the lowest possible bar just fine.
Just be sure to have a decent quality pair of headphones to use when you need to make critical decisions and don't trust what you hear on those PA speakers
