4 channel preamp with insert point

Hi guys,

I want to get a 4 to 8 external channel preamp to add to my audient ID22.
I am looking for something I can connect with ADAT to the ID22 and that has insert points.

The cheapest thing I was able to find was Focusrite Clarett OctoPre | Sweetwater

Is there something out there cheaper than that?
It seems like there are not a lot of option when it is coming to external preamp that have insert points. There is obviously the audient asp880, but I don t have the money for this as well.

Any suggestions?

Thanks !

I have been searching more and found out the fca1616, but it is really unclear whether you can use it as a slave and another interface as the master (which i want).

If you know any other possibilities, please let me know !

What are you going to use the insert point for mainly?

I am going to use them for outboard gear such as compressor, Eq, reverb etc...

Reverb?
Then why not get a outboard Mic pre as well and go Mic Pre> Eq> Compressor> Line input interface..
Will have even MORE control on levels compared to the Clarett OctoPre..

Because I want to get a ADAT interface with 4 to 8 preamps with inserts. I only have two on my audient and even if I buy a new external preamp, I would still only be able to use 2 mics no matter what.

You don't need inserts. Mic preamps don't have inserts because they are mic level.

Just go preamp > outboard > next thing.

People seem to forget that you can just plug line devices in a chain... #signalflow

Ok then met s say i buy the ada8200 from beringher (8 adat preamp/line) to connect to my audient id22.
Then i am going to have to buy 8 new external preamps to go to my compressor to go line in the ada8200.
I don t really think it makes any sense right ?

Thanks for your help, really appreciate

The insert point on a mic pre would be on the Output not input...
Many consoles have insert points on the Mic pre out..

Yes, that's what my flow shows. Outboard comes after the preamp, therefore, off the OUTPUT.

This thread isn't about console channels; obviously console channels have inserts.
