I wanted to mention the so called 'digital drug', binaural beats.
Not much of a -delic sound but rather a -healing one.. but couldn't the very same be said about psychedelic music too? That seems to heal my soul quite well too, sometimes. I certainly feel sick after listening to too much pop music and not many 'weird' sounds and harmonies.. I need my Pink Floyd, Zappa, King Crimson, Yes, etc.. fix every so often.
Anyway, if somebody is interested in this fringe application of sound -an attempt at more directly stimulating certain processes of the brain- they can look into the Monroe Institute, in southern Virginia.
They have a quite wide catalog of recordings. Much better quality than the stuff one easily finds on YouTube.
