Sony made the same model for Ibanez. It's called SDR-1000 [or 1000+]

https://www.thesmith.org.uk/music/st...y/mu-r201.html

I got a SDR-1000+ in new condition in original packing [and other stuff] from a guy who bought himself a nice project studio in the early 90s, never installed it, stored all devices for 25 years or so until his other half put them up on sale.

It's a bit on the darker side and I love the lush sound of it.

I like the rich plate bank a lot. Vocals snare. There is so much depth to all these units I have not fully become familiar eith everything they all do. Working on it

I gotta say I remember buying my SPX 90 and it was almost an out of body experience.... then later I heard Alexis had Quadraverb where you should string effects in a box.... wow a sea change and it’s hard to put into perspective now. Tough for me to be too snotty about reverb as the stuff I did back then has a vibe that is dated for sure but there was passion of discovery behind it.

My engineer friends were way beyond that with their tools but when Fairlight hit they embraced digital quickly....wish I’d bought some old machines like the plate they got rid of at work to save space lol...!

I like their 'modern' sounds, that use the stereo input. I programmed myself a dozen presets to get the ball rolling. The ease of adjusting to taste for that song is just the most important thing for me. What an extraordinary piece of kit!

Bricasti - love, love love it.

And I may get clobbered for this, but I have the Lexicon plugin, but I still love having the hardware PCM92. Maybe it is psychological - but I love having the hardware for it, and it is awesome too - even though different from the Bricasti.

Until a few days ago we were using an old Klark Teknik DN780 with remote. Love that old sound on vocal tracks. Need to find someone who works on these. Like most old gear it's an intermittent crackle but a solder iron is a dangerous weapon in my house. Also use a Quantec 2402F all the time, great on ballads.

Don't laugh, but Plate #1 on the 'ol Nanoverb sounds good on vocals.

The MU-R201 arrived. Dead. No effect sound. Soldering the copper bus bars did the trick. Now that it's back in action, I'm finding I greatly prefer it over the Quadraverb overall. Especially on rooms and other short decay settings, where the Alesis sounded tinny and rough, and the Sony sounds much more natural.

Sorry - I am not ignoring you, it is just that I use a lot of them. I like the halls and plates.

If anyone is interested and want to compare a few 90's reverb units, I made a video (with audio via a soundcard) of the Yamaha SPX90, SPX900 and Alesis Quadraverb, to compare 5 diff patches on each machine.

The units you mention are ALL 1980s machines. Just to be precise.

Hahaha! I wondered about that when I wrote it. The Quad isn't 90's???? Well they are all 90s sounding (or at least the Quad is)

This picture doesn't show mine.

Mine is hidden within my Kurzweil K2500XS synth.

It is quite powerful and sounds way better than the default Digitech multi-effects in the synth.

It is made even more powerful thanks to a particular combination of Mode and feature introduced two decades ago by a free firmware update.

Not many people know about that.

How do you like that FXAlg #130 - Complex Echo, Italo?

One day, I'll post some cool stuff.

Pretty basic multitap, Lex style, with diffusion added. Too bad it doesn't have interpolated delays and filters!
You should check the Korg DL8000R for a full blown version of it.
Great verbs are even possible on it!

I have just a very humble Lexicon MPX100 and to me, it sounds better than pretty much all the software. You can tweak the crap out of it like you can with R4, but then I don't need to, I just turn it on and adjust 3 knobs and it sounds good.

Plan to get a LXP1 at some point, but I'm in no rush.

Easy to do on the Kurz: the KDFX section has its own Mod Matrix on steroids.

I can choose a math function from a large list of them to add to two sources (including an LFO that I can customise) to further process them before they are routed to a parameter destination.

I can actually choose to further process this new modulation by another three pairs like that in a chain.

(FX) FUN?

You bet.

KDFX-dedicated Mod Matrix on steroids, it doesn't even tap the DSP resources of V.A.S.T. where you have a similar Mod Matrix on steroids called FUN(s) and which themselves can be routed onto any of the DSP units parameters there...

...or...

... I can also choose to route the resulting audio signal when patched back into one of the two Exp. Pedals inputs where I can additionally choose to route the control voltage to any parameter of the KDFX section as well.

Yes... but if the delays are not interpolated, as I believe, you won't get any good from all those mod. possibilities. That's a pretty common scenario for every piece of hardware...
