Sound Expo - UK Gearslutz meet up?

http://www.sounds-expo.co.uk/indexVisitor.php

This is about the best the UK has for annual gear shows.

Shall we agree a day organize a meet up / drink up afterwards?

Problem is, it's located in such a dead drab nomansland of an area I cant for the life of me think of anywhere pleasant for us to meet in nearby.

Anyone know Wembley?

Is there a pub in that godforsaken area?

We REALLY need somewhere within walking distance to make it convenient for traveling Gearslutz to attend.

One thought is Phoenix studio (?) the folks that took over CTS studios (nearby) has events on in the evening (last year was a Nuendo demo) perhaps we could use that as a venue? They have a cafe, I think you can buy beer there.... We may just have to 'wing it' on the night but it HAS to be local!!!

Pub!?!? You'd never fit everyone in

I hear they're building some kind of sports stadium (probably another dog track, because London definitely needs more dog tracks) there. Why don't you just hire that?

Dear Julian,

There are several pubs around the surrounding areas which are all in walking
distance - Blue Check, The Green Man and The Torch.

As there are no Arena or Conference events the pubs should be quite,
although The Plaza hotel does have a bar if you would prefer a bit of
privacy.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards,

I live less than a mile away in Kenton. Avoid the Torch - it's a hole. There are a couple of great Indian restaurants near North Wembley station, or lots of ones near Wembley Triangle (v. close), like an all-you-can-eat Chinese that's supposed to be OK.

I can scope something out if you lot want to get food, otherwise the Blue Check is probably the best bet.

It's on Empire Way, opposite the end of Fulton Road. There's a map here.

12 Empire Parade, Wembley , HA9 0RQ Tel: (020) 8902 8147

It's almost opposite the Fountain TV studios, (the old Lee studios) where they filmed stuff like "The Professionals"!

Nearest tube is Wembley Park (5 mins walk). Just come out of the station, cross the road and head down the hill. Go past the McDonalds, another 50 yards and cross the road at the lights and there you are.

Hope this helps,

Ian

Which way do you head when you walk out of the conference center?

Any idea?

Thanks!

Turn right. Depending on where you exit, walk past the Conf Centre main exit and keep going. Cross the road at the traffic lights (at the large side road that leads to the Arena), then keep going for, oh, 100 yds or so.

What sort of time?

Right - dunno about other people's arrangements but I have arranged with some fellow slutz to meet up at the TL Audio stand at 13.00 on Tuesday. No idea about any pub-activity afterwards but it sure would be nice. Anyway: if you want to hook up with (some of) us at 13.00 my badge reads:

I can't go at all now!!!!!

On friday night I got a bit too pissed with some friends. While trying to get into bed I kicked something on the floor! My left toe was quite sore but I was so drunk I just went to sleep. Woke up the next morning in a bit of pain and with a purple toe! Went to the hospital yesterday, got an X-ray and they said it was fractured(spelling?). I've got to stay off of work for a week and i've got this shoe which helps me walk on my heel. Oh and a lot of pain killers!

Damn. Guys, please report back anything interesting. Have fun!

Olly

Hi

Sorry to Preben,i waited at the TL Audio stand but didn't see you there........

Hope you all had a good day
I certainly did......

My favorite stand was the Digital Village Professional Stand

4 tall racks full of high end pres,comps,eq's.................

That Mackie DXB was an ugly beast...(Bright Silver)Yuck......
I know its not looks that count but that silver colour would drive me mad looking at it all day long....

And the operating system for it isn't finished yet either...

What was your favorite stand at the show.....?

Well I had a cool time despite messing up organizing any organized meet up..Sorry folks!

Met a lot of cool folks today, and SEVERAL gearslutz

A lot of folks complimented me on the T Shirt asking me where I got it or saying they didn't think they would be THAT cool looking....

So just to remind you....
