Finding arrangment problems at the mixing stage! errr......

This always happens to me. im working on a band and i realize during the mix that the hats are masking the top end on my guitars but i cant turn down the hats cause they get everywhere! ( eventually i began reording hats with a towl drapped over them. maybe a bit excessive)

or

There is no alternation between vocals and snare.

can anyone offer rock arrangment tips or does anyone know of a book that studies modern pop/rock in a classical style. i really feel like its at this point in the production stage that you need to be on top of things.

cheers

It's something that comes with time and experience. You're learing already although it may not seem like it at the time.... heh heh Like was said before, listening really helps.
