Another M/S question

In using the M/S technique in regards to recording acoustic guitar I seem to have a hard time in getting the final result to be balanced. One side is a lot hotter on the final track after it's decoded in the DAW (digital performer). I monitor through DP so as to hear what the result is, move my position, experiment with the 2 volume levels. Seems like it's more even when the mics are more pointing at the sound hole, but I don't care for the sound quality (sounds better at the neck 12th fret area). Any tips?

Well...when you point the center of ANY stereo setup to the 12th fret, most of the sound-emitting part (aka The Body) of the guitar IS on the left of the setup, and thus most sound will appear there.
