Can you get to much Cranesong gear? I´m throwing out the Manleys

Old "pop" setup for mainly vocals: Manley Ref C + Voxbox + 888. I´m tired of the tube sound (I think)

New "pop" setup for vocals: Blue Bottle with B6, B7, B0 capsule + Cranesong Flamingo + 2Trakker + Hedd +(maybe Ibiz)

The question: Is it to much Cranesong gear???

I doooooooooooon´t think so.....heh

I will start eating my outboard soon.

My rack will soon have 11RU worth. I find it to be the most musical gear currently made. I don't think you can have too much good stuff, whatever that may be...

My current Crane Song rack:

Spider
2 Trakkers
Flamingo
HEDD 192

I'm sure this will be growing in the coming year. "You can't be too rich, too thin, or have too much Crane Song gear."

I probably didn't mention that if you're throwing out the Manley's, you're welcome to throw them my way.

I like food......yuktyy

I´ve been a heavy user of your Ref C and Voxbox. Producing 3 Gold records and 1 Platina records with it the last two years. Mainly used them for vocals and acoustic gtr. (stereo)

Latetly I´ve been into solid state class A stuff like the Cranesongs, and like it alot! So I will switch to that......

ps. What´s up with $6500 for the SLAM??!?!?!

(Manley do R.O.C.K)

The Flamingo's not enough... you're gonna have to bring along those Soundeluxe mics, a Moog Voyager and the bongverbulator. Then we can talk!

P.S. an Ibis would be nice, if you know anyone whose nuts you could twist to get one ahead of the crowd (twisting a mere arm wouldn't do it)

What´s the "real" differents between the Trakker and STC-8?
"same, same, but different" (speak like like Thai) grggt

Whee I have two trakkers and a flamingo. I guess that I'm missing out by not having HEDD .

That's okay tho because my mixes are already dense enough already and need to be restrained from ultrasaturation.

I said it before but I'll say it again.

grggt I AM SELLING MY CRANE SONG FLAMINGO IF ANYONE WANTS IT. grggt

Why? Because I'm trying to raise money for an Ibis. $4G is a LOT of buxes.tut

Dave tells me they are two different designs entirely. The STC-8 was designed to be the 'ultimate' clean and transparent compressor with the ability to color via 'Ki' mode. The Trakker was designed to be a colored device (though still quite clean, it lacks that final level of transparancy available in the STC-8) that can get down and dirty or rather cleanly control gain.

Clear as mud?

Probably one of the rare instances these days where a user actually used the search function.

[sarcasm]Can we get another Gibson Self Tuning guitar thread please?[/sarcasm]

No sense in expecting a moderator to merge threads.

I seem to remember Brad Blackwood adding a Pendulum to his arsenal a while back, which would seem to compliment the Cranesong line.

As for throwing out the Manley stuff, I've been Manley free for a while now and feel much more secure knowing it's out of my place. The Cranesong stuff on the other hand I know I'm covered free of charge for life in case something acts up (this would be laughable to suggest to Manley Labs- those horror stories are many and one of the reasons I had so much trouble selling my Manley gear 2nd hand). Every piece of CS gear or software I've tried I haven't been able to bring myself to get rid of- even when money was tight. I don't think anything they've put out could be considered a one trick pony that only works for one rider, and most of the time you can get it to shine wherever you do put it.

For example, I usually use a couple instances of Phoenix per song, but I was just talking to an engineer that uses it on everychannel. So, as usual, I guess it all boils down to taste.

Back off topic, whatever happened to "Neve Sucks" anyway?

I like the Vari-Mu. Feel like it complements something like an STC-8- wouldn't replace it.

I need more Cranesong gear- I wish I had 11RU worth like Brad!

Wow, he hasn't been heard from since 2003... Hopefully he fulfilled all of his gear lust and is now making great music.
