Brighton Music Conference reveals technology showcases 5-6 June

Brighton Music Conference (BMC) has revealed the tech showcases that form a key part of the event’s two days of master classes, panels and talks, featuring brands including Ableton, Novation, Native Instruments, Pioneer DJ, Vicoutics, Audio Technica Novation, and more.

With a show floor of 60 exhibitors and a host of exclusive tech and artist showcases, BMC also features some of the biggest names in DJ and professional audio equipment, including Allen & Heath, Numark, Pioneer DJ, Denon and Roland, and a host of other music businesses with expertise from education - BIMM, Point Blank London and Northbrook College - to royalty collection and legal advice from PRSforMusic.

Taking Inspiration from Dennis DeSantis’s recent book “Making Music - 74 Creative Strategies for Electronic Music Producers”, Ableton presents a series of seminars at Brighton Music Conference this year which aim to inspire and inform music producers of all levels, from beginner to pro. Dennis DeSantis will be there to host an Ableton panel alongside Evil Nine, Alex Banks and Max Wheeler .

Exclusive to BMC is the first opportunity in the UK to get ‘hands-on’ with Novation’s latest product – the Launchpad Pro. Novation will also hold an intimate tech showcase with Paul Hartnoll, formerly half of pioneering electronic dance music duo, Orbital.

Native Instruments’ have made a big step forward in studio integration with an update to their MASCHINE Groove Production studio, and KOMPLETE KONTROL S-Series keyboards. Plus this is the chance for BMC pass holders to get their hands on Stems, a new multi-track audio format that allows DJs and live performers to incorporate individual parts of a track in their sets. All of this and more will be on show in the NI KONTROL room where they can get up close and personal with all the kit.

Next Audio Labs will be giving attendees the chance to experience Rekord Buddy 2.0, the revolutionary system for professional DJs.

Steinberg will be exhibiting their latest version of their flagship DAW Cubase 8 Pro, as well as their range of UR audio interfaces and virtual instruments.

London Speaker Hire will be bringing their own, one off, fully spec’d Rover Mini Cooper Roadster to BMC. Complete with Martin Audio speakers the classic car has been converted to act as a mobile Flash Mob vehicle; perfect for the DJ circuit this summer.

Funktion One will be offering the opportunity to experience the PSM318 professional DJ monitors, and showcase its new self-powered bass system - designed for smaller applications, including studios and home environments.

FBT Audio will showcase several of their product lines including their brand new entry level ‘X’ Series portable active speaker range.

JAMM, the innovative new anti-piracy company, will also be in attendance.

Inflyte
Music promo platform Inflyte will be rolling out a new major update to their platform just in time for Brighton Music Conference 2015. Inflyte, which launched in October 2014, has quickly established itself in the music promo-space with it’s unique mobile-first offering, securing deals with some of the industry’s largest independent labels including Defected, Cocoon Recordings and Get Physical who rank among the 300-strong labels being serviced across the platform.

As part of Brighton Music Conference, Inflyte will also be hosting a networking/mixer event as part of the official events programme. Run in collaboration with GeneratorNI, ‘It’s Grim Up North’ will showcase electronic acts from Northern Ireland at the Neighbourhood venue on Saturday June 6th. Some of the acts confirmed to appear include Phil Kieran, Psycatron, Schmutz and Timmy Stewart, with complimentary cocktails and a barbecue.

FBT Audio
FBT Audio will showcase their latest modular line array range - Muse, which includes their latest cardioid flyable subwoofers. Funktion One
Visitors to world-renowned loudspeaker manufacturer, Funktion-One’s stand will have the opportunity to experience the PSM318 professional DJ monitors, which have been setting a new precedent in club and event monitoring since their launch in 2014. Commenting on the monitors, Carl Cox said: “Just as you thought Funktion-One couldn’t get any better, they design the best monitors I have ever worked on.” Funktion-One, will also showcase its new self-powered bass system - designed for smaller applications, including studios and home environments.

Rekord Buddy
By DJs for DJs since 2012, Next Audio Labs is revolutionizing the way DJs organize and interact with their music collection. Next’s first product, Rekord Buddy, is the world’s most powerful track collection management system specifically designed for professional DJs. They’ll be showcasing version 2.0 of Rekord Buddy, which allows DJs to finally take control of their music. Using Rekord Buddy DJs can prepare, organize and synchronize their music in entirely new ways. Powered by an industry-leading relational database engine and using patent-pending sorting technology, Rekord Buddy automatically sorts, edits and organizes all playlists, track information, cue points and beat grids then syncs with all major DJ software like Rekordbox, Traktor, Serato, The One, PCDJ, Virtual DJ, Deck-A-Dance, Mixvibes Cross and more.

Novation
BMC will be the first opportunity in the UK to get ‘hands-on’ with Novation’s latest product – the Launchpad Pro. Designed for live performance, the professional grid instrument is the simplest and best way to create dynamic, expressive musical performances in Ableton Live, or any music software. Users can connect this together with any product from the already established and popular Launch family, and take complete control of their session. Attendees at Novation's tech showcase at BMC on Saturday can watch product specialist Mark Lowes perform using the Launchpad Pro, alongside other products from the Launch range. Joining Novation at BMC on Friday for an intimate tech showcase is Paul Hartnoll, formerly half of pioneering electronic dance music duo, Orbital. Discover the equipment he turned to for inspiration in transferring 8:58, his new project and time inspired collaborative concept album, into a live set. Find out first-hand how he sets up his rig, and hear how he brings his project to life.

Ableton
Taking Inspiration from Dennis DeSantis’s recent book “Making Music - 74 Creative Strategies for Electronic Music Producers”, Ableton presents a series of seminars at Brighton Music Conference this year which aim to inspire and inform music producers of all levels, from beginner to pro. Ableton have invited some of Brighton’s most respected electronic artists to give an insight into their strategies for overcoming the creative roadblocks that all producers encounter from time to time: How to find inspiration, how to make progress with your ideas and (most importantly) how to finish what you start. On Friday 5 June Ableton will be joined by Evil Nine (Marine Parade). The Brighton duo will discuss their approach to making music and deconstruct one of their recent tracks, 2014’s “Your Girl”. On Saturday 6 June Ableton Certified Trainer Simon Stokes aka Petrichor (Soma Records) breaks down some of the essential tools in Live 9 for sculpting your own sounds in order to give your tracks a distinct identity. In the afternoon, Dennis DeSantis hosts the Ableton panel alongside Evil Nine (Marine Parade), Alex Banks (Monkeytown Records) and Max Wheeler (Anushka/Brownswood Recordings). The discussion will focus on helping producers actually make music – with concrete tips for solving musical problems, making progress and, fundamentally, completing projects – regardless of the software or hardware used. In the evening, Ableton hosts a Brighton Artist Showcase at The Tempest Inn, in association with the Brighton Ableton User Group and BMC. Join Ableton on the Access To Music Stand where Certified Trainers will be on hand to guide attendees through the newest features of Live 9 and Push.
