Putting ONE V30 in a 4x12 Mesa Black Shadow for recording?

I have an old Mesa Rectifier 4x12 cab equipped with Black Shadow (C90?) speakers hooked up to my Dual Rectifier / Marshall 6100. It sounds great, but everybody is using V30's, so I am thinking about replacing ONE of the speakers with a V30 to get some variety or even better tone.

The sound I am getting currently is pretty mid and bass heavy and lacks a little presence and bite when recorded through an SM57. It's a little bit muffled, even with the presence on the amp pretty much cranked up.

Does it make sense to replace just one speaker for recording or is there anything else to consider (besides impedance)?

I have never done it, but everything makes a difference but I doubt it's going to make or break your sound. You can use an active EQ to bring some mid - or actually usually you might boost bass and highs and that will add presence. Mud comes from low mids.

My 4x12 came stock with G12T-75s and I swapped out one for a WGS Veteran 30 and another for a G12M Greenback. Mic the one that works best for the track, go for it.
