It's got way more attitude , like the most aggressive pbass , like a G&L SB-1 it has serious balls . As mainly a pbass player I can certainly live with this the 2 band on the classic gets nice bass dialed in easy and the mutes , heck that puts you right in the heart of R&B if that's your thing, so yeah you could get by with a Sterling no doubt !

Thanks I do like the mutes as an option. I usually put a 1/2" wide piece of foam against the bridge when I want that damped flavor. So, I think the mutes are cool and retro.

As long as I can find that P Bass place and then expand from there, I'm good to go.

My old (1980)G&L L-1000 (gone) had a switched setting that matched my P exactly and then could get a wide range of tones, that mostly were huge and I loved the bass roll off, which I used as Bass VI (picked and foam muted) flavor.

That really looks good in black. The more I look at it the more I like it. I usually prefer the LP's that have binding (vs the tributes).

I do also really like the Les Paul Junior Special; tobacco burst, no binding, P90's from a couple years ago, and the Les Paul Classic Antique, even further back. Those were flamed, bound and P90'd, and very cool!

Of course, any of these would be good, after acquiring a Standard Iced Tea burst! AND I always think of that with a Bigsby, which must remind me of Keith Richards and Eric Clapton, both of whom had one, like that.....well actually, they probably had DOZENS like that! LOL

It was the guitar featured in my Reeves Custom Jimmy 50 Demos.

I personally prefer a matte finish to allow the natural beauty of the wood to do the talking, but this a beast of a guitar.
That's a pretty guitar

Here's 2 for you 1 pretty new 1 old Here's a picture of me playing with Paula Atherton @ the Houndstooth Pub in NY. I brought out my 1969 Les Paul Custom, which I bought in Feburary of 1973 for $425. The second guitar is a 2004 I think Fender Ash Lite Strat that's been refretted, has Fralin Vintage Hot's, Sperzel tuners and an Earvana nut. Thats with Paula Atherton again @ The Ducks Jazz Festival in NC.

That is quite a Les Paul up there Fretless. Very impressed by the wiring in that puppy, damn that is some fine quality workmanship. Even my Seymour Duncan pre-wired is not that sweet. Are all Gibson's like that internally or is that special?

Your Favorite Guitar Live Shots could be a whole other thread.

A rare shot of me singing.
I think I'm singing Bon Scott's part in the chorus to Hiqhway To Hell! :-)
Either that or the chorus to "Turn It On" By Genesis.

'64 Fender Jazz Bass.
My SVT Head had just been stolen, so I bought that POS Fender
Solid State 400 head. What a lifeless hunk of trash.

Yeah.
I have a white one, 2011.
Don't use LP's much at all (normally prefer SG), but I wanted to find a more interesting p-90 guitar. The closest non-Gibson contender had a bowed neck, So I tried the LP on a whim.

Factory pickups and a chambered body... yet:
The bridge setting really is as cool as hell. Even with the kitch "Barbie-Skin" coloured plastic someone at Gibbo decided to use at the moment. :-)

Previously, a Custom >30 year old, one-piece-body Koa strat p-90's but it was always a bit too "sweet" and thick - only worked for very specific things.

When Gibson was offering the LP Jr. Specials with P-90's and the tune-o-matic
bridge, I thought that was a great deal.

I loved the sound of a junior, but it could be tricky to get the intonation right.

Not sure I would like the weight relieved models, but a real USA Gibson with
P-90's would be a welcome addition to my small collection.

Actually, a mate had an early LPJ special and it was the only other p-90 LP I have really liked.
I'm convinced the chambering has something to do with why I dig this guitar.

I'd have to try a few side by side with solid bodies and also against an SG special
same electronics.

When I think of semi hollow Gibson I'm thinking 335 or 330

Yeah the tune-a-matic bridge is a requirement for me and the version I'm thinking of had it. I was thinking I'd get a Vibramate and B3.

Great shots FFTT! You could'a been in the Cars or the Police!

Unclenny Is that SG stock? or did you customize one? What model if so?!
I don't ever remember seeing one like that!

@ Musiclab That guitar certainly is unique! Now, I'm missing my '68 Les Paul Custom! I got mine around Halloween and I think it was $350 with the case. It was the Black Beauty Fretless Blunder.

RE semi-hollows

I get nostalgic when it comes to those. I think 355 since I never bought one, or a 335 perhaps.

But my thoughts always go to my '68 Epiphone Riviera and since Epiphone has the 1962 Sheraton, which looks just like mine with a fancier headstock inlay, I get VERY tempted to go that route.
That Riviera through my 1960 Fender Concert was my favorite rig ever! and I've kept trying to be that pleased since! LOL

To clarify - I'm not saying an LPJ and Trib are the "same" though...

For me, LP's in general to have too many lows. The very early, lighter Honduras ones are the only ones I dig. I do like LPJ's more, mabe 'cos there's not quite so much wood (flat-tops). I like there to be a certain type and degree of transparency in the low-end, and modern LP's generally don't have that IME.
The Trib just flaoted my boat... somehow.
Something about the response and something it does to the mids. I can't really articulate it.
My only issue is if I adjust an amp for the bridge pup, the neck is too tubby... and vice-versa.
I did all the adjustment tricks. I may just play with the neck unit at some point. I un-wound a Duncan vintage p-90 by a few hundred Ohms once and it worked a treat.
I will say a 335 is an awesome machine IMHO, but a real hollowbody is a different vibe entirely.

Yeah the neck PU in my '85 can be a bit too beefy.

Try backing down the pickup height.

It's screwed into the wood with the poles out...

I been using 90's since the 80's and this one just won't play nice.
As I say, I'll probably tinker with the unit itself soon.

Oh, and I forgot the porn shot:

Back in the human jukebox days when I was skinny enough to fit 31 waist trousers and go shirtless.

We covered 78 songs a night, 5-40 minute non-stop medley sets.

We were big Cars fans, did like 3 of their songs.
