Ebtech Hum Eliminator for guitars

Can EBtech Hum eliminator work for a guitar to remove all the hum in it without destroying any sound quality?

Need advise urgently?

The EBtech hum eliminator is an audio transformer that breaks ground loops.

Far from being transparent imho, it wont survive a blind test.

My 2 cents,

everything effects tone, gotta ask yourself which is the lessor evil and how much work are you willing to put in trouble shooting to get as clean as possible...

start w/ star ground.
Fix Ground Loops with a Star Ground scheme

also try to get the power to your pedals clean and isolated:
Voodoo Lab - Pedal Power 2 Plus

etc...

Have one and it's great for line level signals where you need a 1:1 isolation transformer, but only as a last result. Some pieces of gear or when you're in a club with their power/gear, it's so noisy that this is better.

I have found their AC power thingy, the Hum-X to be nothing short of magic for killing buzz on buildings with bad power (like my house). Worth every penny of its $60 price.

On the hum eliminator, I have the original Ebtech 2 channel TRS in/out one i bought 10 or so years ago.

The power one is their Hum X

I've had good luck w/ the Hum X as well where star ground is not always obtainable. In my experience, good power, requires good planning.

I've had wicked bad RFI issues living a 10th of a mile from a 500,000 watt tower array broadcasting a mexican evangelist radio station... slowly but surely I've been able to minimize it's impact.
