Guitar Mods of a Gretsch?

Hi,
I'm have a Gretsch Electromatic that I bought a while ago and just picked it up again. I feel like the tone knob electronics don't respond as well as I would like. I love the bright sound of guitars. Is there a mod to get the tone knobs to get a brighter sound out of the pick ups? Or should I look into new pickups? It has the toaster type of pickups.

I can't imagine wanting it brighter. But if that's what you want, the easiest and least intrusive way I can think of would be to simply disconnect your tone pot entirely. Then if it's still not brite enough, replace the volume pot with a 1 meg. Keep the original in the case, so you can put it back if you sell it.

Thank you. I figured I have one really good Gretsch(Falcon), and one decent Gretsch(Electromatic). No harm in trying to mod the low line Gretsch.

The electromatics are fine guitars- a lot of guys drop TV Jones pickups into them and report a big improvement.
