Problem with Marshall JCM2000 DSL100 - HELP!!

Hi everyone, I have recently purchased a 2nd hand Marshall JCM2000 DSL100 and it has a problem I'm hoping some one can help me with.

When I first fired it up - everything ran perfectly - however after about 30 mins Channel A (classic) was significantly down on power/volume - with the VOLUME on 5 and the GAIN on 7 - it was very subdued!! it should be killing people at that setting - right!!!?? Then I noticed that if I turned up the GAIN on CHANNEL B - it affected CHANNEL A - and my volume came back. Turning up the VOLUME on CHANNEL B has no effect on CHANNEL A however (which is what you would expect).

CHANNEL B works perfectly and has no effect on CHANNEL A.

The volume did come back to CHANNEL A briefly (30 secs), then went away again and hasn't been seen since.

This amp has alledgedly just had a full service. Any suggestions ...before I take it to an amp doctor??

thanks.

Red face

Ok...not exactly flooded with replies.

Perhaps it was too confusing...

The line: CHANNEL B works perfectly and has no effect on CHANNEL A.

Should have read: CHANNEL B works perfectly and CHANNEL A has no effect on it.

Does that help??

Take it to an amp doctor..
If you start playing about, you could kill yourself dude.

But it sounds like an effects loop problem (circuit problem) or a powertube problem (volume drop)..

Not 100% on my understanding of the problem - But, I'd get the thing looked at

Thanks Noodles - I've already dropped it off at the Amp Doctor, although he couldn't guarantee he could fix it - apparantly these JCM2000 DSL & TSL are a bit tricky to diagnose faults compared the older JCM800 & 900's.

thanks again.
