To hell with the Valve Jr., check out this 5 watt monster...

Before you even look at the ridiculous low price, listen to the clips. I'll bet this is incredible as an extra recording amp to have around. Wonder how it would be into a Recto cab. :: ValveKing® Royal 8

Check out clip number 4, sounds great dirtied up.

This other little 5 watt amp looks cool too, sounds great on the clips as well... the Mini Collossal JSX series, Joe Satrianis stuff, cheap as well. :: JSX® Mini Colossal

I would add the Gries 5 to your list of must try 5 watt Class A amps.
Five Tube Amp

The Five is based on the single-ended 6V6 blackface amp with a few enhancements. The Gain control blends the tone stack out of the circuit, changing the tone from blackface clean to tweed "crunch" and adds back all the gain that a passive EQ removes. An efficient 12" speaker adds a fullness to the sound that no 8" speaker can even approach. Finally, the Master helps throttle this volume down to bedroom levels when that's all you need. Available as a 1 x 12" combo with Eminence Tonkerlite speaker or as a head.

Add the Zinky Supro Baby Model 50 to that list of mini killers with 13 watts Class A.

Model 50™
The Supro Model 50 first made its debut almost 70 years ago. The original featured a single volume control and produced about 6 Watts of power through one power tube and a10” speaker. True to our vintage roots, the new Model 50 has a vintage style USA-made AlNiCo magnet speaker with Kraft paper voice coil, vintage paper cone and over 13 Watts of all-tube, single-ended “class A” power. The sound of this amplifier is clean until the highest volume settings, where it will gradually give in to classic tube distortion. Simple, yet effective Volume & Tone controls, plus Standby and Power switches. Great for recording, practice, or small gigs.
