Best 1073/1066 style preamp guitar pedal recommendations

Looking for a guitar pedal preamp pedal-but an EQ pedal at heart
I know the JHS Colour Box, which they are relaunching later this year, I've owned an Empress Para EQ before (and it was nice)and I've read about the Hudson Broadcast, but...

I'm looking for something specifically to be the last thing a pedal board sees before hitting a solid state amp that has no tone controls-
so the pedal would be thee tone shaping apparatus for the rig, always on.

big headroom & precise-
Thanks!

The 1073 is famous for its color. If you like the early 70s sound, perhaps a standard MXR DynaComp might be handy. My favorite EQ is a VFE Pinball. That one is very simple. You may consider some tube preamps, especially if you like clean guitar.
