How to get this Yngwie Malmsteen Type tone?

I love the attack/spank/sponginess and clarity of the tone.

How could i try to recreate this? cranked treble booster into cranked plexi?

Do you want to get Yngwie's tone, or that guy's tone?

Well, that guy could get closer to Yngwie's tone if he were wearing spandex...jeans? Come on man...

You need an original Grey spec DOD 250,or at least a DOD YJM 308.

You'd have to ask Yngwie. But, then, Yngwie would have to ask Ritchie Blackmore.

Fender han an official overdrive with the Malmsteen signature. (and you need a delay)

Check the demo, for example at 0:50

this guy's tone, that's why i chose the title 'yngwie malmsteen type tone' and not 'yngwie malmsteen tone'

because it still has a bit of that malmsteen flavor.

here's the link again in case anyone missed it:

Have you tried including your middle initial when referring to yourself?

It's especially effective when it's the least necessary, I've heard.

Start here, see if this helps:

Not sure what this guy is using, but Yngwie- at least for a time - used DiMarzio stacked pickups. I think they have a YJM model - check your local GC, or online.

BUT

You can prolly get close with a single coli in the neck position.

AND remember - Yngwie doesn't play with a ton of gain.

Cheers.

yes i have noiseless singlecoils, but the tone i linked is very far from the link you posted, it's not just a cranked marshall, there's something in front of it i think (treble booster?).

if you checked out the link you'd hear the difference, it's more like the tone yngwie has on the intro of the song 'crystal ball' from odyssey, it has a lot of 'attack' and 'spank' coming through, which probably comes from some kind of high frequency boost in front of the amp, it doesn't sound as smooth.

I guess that's a cranked plexi + Clean booster with a lot of volume pushing it? i know he used a DOD250 but i highly doubt he actually cranked the gain on the DOD250

Yeah, but that tone is closer to Yngwie's than the link you posted....

I guess I am just confused. You want to sound like a guy trying to sound like Yngwie, but you don't want to sound like Yngwie?

In any event, I tried to help. You can carry on now....
