I apologize for the guitars and drums in this picture. It was the only one I had of all my amps.

1973 Fender Bassman

Ampeg SVT-VR RI

Mid-60's Vox AC-50

Galanti Bass 30
(Weird Italian EL84 amp from the 60's. Good for bass? Hell no, but great for Voxy guitar tones)

1968 Fender Bandmaster (Drip-edge, still blackface circuit)

1959 Magnatone 260A (My favourite amp. Tweed-ish, gritty Neil Young tones all day. And that vibrato...)

Red Bear MKE 60 (Great JCM800-ish amp)

Marshall TSL60 JCM-2000

Holy crap, guys. After stating in another thread that I had no real interest in solid-state amps, anymore, I just scored this excellent condition, mid-'80s JC-120 for $200! This is my best craigslist find, to date.

I'll play. Nothing crazy here really, just my 2 fave amps.

Vox Cambridge 30 Twin Reverb (with opto coupler mod)

'77 Fender Vibro Champ (fully serviced) - new caps, new JJ's tube complement and new Jensen speaker.

So what are your thoughts on the Class 5?

Do you like it?

Yeah, I love it. I actually got a new to me Peavey cab to go with it, just lately.

I do, in fact, love the sound of the Class 5. I'm not a huge Marshall guy. So, this amp satisfies all my needs for the Marshall sound. One big gripe, with the version I have, is that tube rattle is the worst I have experienced with any tube amp. If I turn it up past halfway it becomes intrusive. Of course, that's when the amp starts to come alive, as well. There are certain things to be done to the amp, that are meant to help with the rattle, but I've yet to attempt them. Also, fwiw, the last version supposedly corrected the issue. My solution has been to run it through a matching 2X10 extension cab. Pure heaven, that is.

My favorite amp. I only gig the Twin for outdoor events, it's too heavy to haul around for normal bar gigs.

For bar gigs I mic my Fender Supersonic in the picture below. This is the gear I hauled to a bar gig last weekend. This particular bar has a fairly long walk from the stage to the back parking lot. I'm in decent shape but loading out pretty much wore me out for a few minutes.

I added up the weight of all that gear and it comes to 303 lbs. Too much gear! I decided to begin reducing the weight and size of what I haul around and so I did some research and last night I bought one of these:

Quilter 101 Mini Head, 2 lbs, Class D, 100 watt max. If it sounds great to good the Quilter will replace my amp and will be on my pedalboard running into a Fender 28 lb passive 1x12 guitar cab. Next step will be getting lighter weight cases (for mixer and pedalboard) and lighter weight active stage monitors. Thank goodness I don't have room in my Jeep to haul around the PA.

@blakestree, you'll love a Quilter. The mini 101 at 2 lbs. blows my mind.

Tubey goodness, it's unreal. I'm running it through this.

It's quite frankly amazing how great Quilter sounds. Just great.

This is my Paoletti I purchased at NAMM a few years back. Built with the same 150 year old Wine barrels they use to make their guitars. After a lot of convincing they agreed to let me purchase this prototype they build for NAMM and said that I would be the only person in the US with it so I would have to send it back to Italy if anything needed repairs to protect their design. Don't ask me why but this made me want it even more. It is flawless and has never had an issue. I thought maybe just the allure and the cost were influencing my love of its sound but when I stumbled upon it at the convention and plugged into it was a, $%#& ME I HAVE TO HAVE THIS moment. Anyone who uses it my studio plays it once and doesn't want to use anything else even without hearing my inflated backstory. Anyways, by far my favorite. Enjoy.

Started with a '65 DLX RVB. then a Blues DLX, followed by a Blues JNR III, thereafter a '59 Bassman RI LTD and finally the gorgeous VibroKing (the keeper)
