It's been about a year and a half since quitting for me. The patch is what finally worked. I think that what got me through the cravings was the fear of what would happen if I smoked with the patch on (i.e. getting sick). I knew that if I wanted a smoke, I'd have to take the patch off and wait a couple of hours. By that time, I'd be able to talk myself out of it.

I was super cranky in the mornings until the patch kicked in (I slept with it off). My wife was very patient during that 2 month time. I think for me, I didn't really lose the cravings until It'd been about a month, and it was just every once and a while. I didn't stop drinking during this time, but I did stay out of bars!

I can't believe how much better I feel, health-wise, and just about my life in general now that I've quit.

You can do it. And if you don't make it this time, it's OK. Just give it another shot again. Good luck!
