Old Yin joins

Hi there.
I'm currently working as a video production specialist (magnificent job title) for a University in Glasgow.
From 1984 to the mid 1990s I worked as a maintenance engineer in recording studios (full time for Trident, Wessex, Jacobs, Maison Rouge, Westside, Hook End Manor and freelance for Brittania Row, Seaview, Real World, Moles and a host of others). I also worked for the Audio Toyshop in Bath repairing and refurbishing consoles and tape machines for resale. I have commissioned/installed second-hand consoles (SSL and Neve) in Russia, South Korea and India.
I put together a console for Andy Gill (RIP) made out of three Neve 51 broadcast consoles with an Uptown automation system fitted to the first 24 channels.
I worked for a couple of years for DDA as their test supervisor until they stopped making the DDA consoles.

These days I repair the odd (some very odd) old analogue device for friends (and money). At the moment I have three Tascam 38s (he wants two good ones from the parts) and a 32-2B taking up space in my sitting room.

Still, it keeps me busy in lockdown.
