The best tempo sync'd modulation source I have is the ADE-32 Octocontroller. It's the proverbial, use it in every patch module. Voltage Block would be my second choice. With either, you'll also want an attenuator or attenuverter. For such a small system, I'd probably go with the Voltage Block. It has the advantage of being better able to sequence your sequencers, or in this case, being able to drive chord changes or transpositions on the Metro, making your 8 step patterns a lot more interesting.
