Here for the gear

Introduction - I record in the kitchen of my apartment

Hello Gearslutz!

I have been a lurker on this site for the longest time. It finally dawned on me that I should make an account so I can join in on the conversation, and hopefully give back to the community that has taught me so much throughout the years.

I got into recording/producing at a very early age. Being a singer and songwriter first and foremost, I always saw recording as a basic way to capture my ideas so I could send them around the internet. To this day, I don't consider myself much of an engineer or "gear guy" but I certainly love turning knobs and playing around with plugins until things start to sound cool.

My philosophy has always been that any recording can sound great with inexpensive gear and very limited options. You just have to know the limitations of your gear and produce you songs accordingly.

I record exclusively on an old computer running an ancient version of Cubase and a couple of cheap household mics - that's it. Oh, and I should mention that everything is done in the kitchen of my Brooklyn apartment. In fact, at one point I had my computer monitor sitting on top of my microwave! lol

If you would like to hear some of my work, please check out my band's EP. It's called "In the Kitchen." (I'm sure you can guess how we came up with the title). I am the singer, rhythm guitarist, songwriter, and mixer on this release.

If you have any questions about how I got any of these sounds, feel free to ask! I am always glad to help out others who have limited gear like I do.

Thanks for reading! I'm glad to officially become a part of this community and I'm looking forward to many musical discussions in the future!
