The simple sharing of basic information worldwide and a decade of Mythbusters and Penn and Teller have all but crushed most of these, and I think there's a palpable sense of "less wonder" happening, "less dreaming big", etc.

And I don't care so much about the beliefs themselves, because let's be clear - there's no Sasquatch, but the sense of wonder is gone, I think.
