Take it all in on your stride
It is ticking, falling down
Love forever, love has freely
Turned forever you and me
Windmill, windmill for the land
Is everybody in?"

OR

"When I feel heavy metal
(Woo-hoo) And I'm pins and I'm needles
(Woo-hoo) Well, I lie and I'm easy
All of the time but I'm never sure why I need you
Pleased to meet you
I got my head done
When I was young
It's not my problem
It's not my problem"

How does this work? Isn't it a bit ridiculous? How can these songs make no sense at all lyrically and be hits?
It only "doesn't make sense" when you decontextualize it by separating it from the music. It doesn't exist independent from the music and isn't supposed to.
