Ancillary mechanisms may be quiet, but they aren't silent. In any case, these have been added to most piano libraries, assumedly to help tackle the common gripe that MIDI piano sounds too sterile and perfect. And I agree.

A real-world piano, not one developed in a lab, is what works best in my experience. Properly in-tune and to concert spec, yes. But too perfect and recordings do, indeed, start to sound clinical and boring.
