Not where I work or perform. It makes a big difference.

And for electronic musicians, circuits that can be pushed, really maybe perhaps sometimes sound great. An overdriven Moog can sound very nice.

A lot smaller venues here in Brooklyn do spend some money on loudspeakers and subs. RCF, QSC and SRX.

EDIT: for example, I bring 3 MD441 when doing sound at this one venue. Peformers LOVE IT. They can definitely hear the bump up from SM48 the owner bought. Yes, 48, not 58.
