Oblique Strategies was a great call, and there are many app versions you can put on portable devices to take with you in sessions away from home. I try to split my brain in two, choosing the creative or technical side and then working accordingly. If the creative spark is missing, I organize samples, go through libraries or presets to become familiar, or do technical work that is more mechanical than it is creative, still allowing me to feel like I'm moving a project forward. The suggestion about having multiple projects to work on is also important, all of your eggs in one basket can create a tunnel vision as well as a preciousness that can distort objective judgement on aspects of a production.
