Hi all,

A friend of mine said, I "should lay a chill tone on the hook... Like layer another set of chill vocals on it... Then adlib (emphasize) the 'pills', 'bills', and the other hit parts of the hook.... Make it sound real full". He later added "Maybe adllib pieces of your verses too"

What's your thoughts do you agree? Why or why not?

Cheers!
It's entirely a matter of preference. Some artists kill adlibs.. some don't. Some don't need to.

Black thought rarely adlibs anything. The guy practices for a couple minutes.. says he's ready.. and lays down his take in one run. I've maybe heard a track or two where he used a backing track.. but usually it's one solid performance.

Other artists throw 3-4 extra tracks on every verse.
