Despite the warning, turning it off mid-update won't brick your box. If your update has started, though, you'll have to successfully complete the update before returning to normal operation. Turning it back on in that scenario will send you back to firmware update mode.
Both times, shutting down/restarting the 16A has resulted in the firmware updating successfully, so there's that!
