Beesneez Microphones James by missioncontrol
I was curious about the beesneez james while on the hunt for a new rich warm tube mic sound.
Already have a wonderful 47 clone, but wanted a different flavor.
I heard from a trusted peer to avoid them, overhyped he said, and overpriced.
I found one for a very low price, with a return policy, so I bought it to demo.
The build quality is what i can only describe as legendary. Weighs what feels like 5-6 lbs in my hands. Solid, classic, yet modern. Beautiful.
Sound is awful. Cloudy low end, harsh boost everywhere from 500-2k. Hi end practically non exsistant for an LDC.
If i boost the hi end from 6k onward, about 3db, sounds virtually identical to my MXL v67g, a mic i was given for free (think its about 80 dollars)
Tested against the mics i had on hand, akg414xls, u47 clone (andreas grosser circuit in a flea body with theirsch m7), dapro cr1-4, and the aforementioned mxl.
Needless to say, i will be returning this mic. I would avoid them, but that's just one mans opinion.
