Universal Audio BOSS CE-1 Chorus Ensemble Plug-In by Jack Morgan
No doubt this has been a very important plugin for a lot of people. The Boss CE-1 effects pedal hasn’t really been matched since 1976, it’s just the most distinctive and beautiful sounding effect for clean electric guitar. And now I can use it on any sound source with the click of a mouse (or more likely the tap of a pad). Amazing. It’s a very accurate reproduction of the original sound.
Within the classy and authentic looking GUI there’s a choice between chorus and true pitch-shifting vibrato, which you can flip between using a “stomp switch” like on the original pedal. There is also another “stomp switch” to engage or bypass the plugin. There is one dial for the intensity of the chorus and two dials for the vibrato rate and depth. Also there is a switch for two different modes – classic and dual (classic is for stereo tracks, with the left channel being direct and the right channel delayed; dual creates a stereo effect for mono tracks using phase).
There aren’t all that many parameters to play with, just like the original, but that’s a good thing. This is all about a simple, amazing sound. In the unlikely event that you haven’t heard Boss’ chorus effect, just check out the guitar on “Come as You Are” by Nirvana. Mmmmm.
