This a 90's tape recorder, probably the best Tascam has ever built!

It records 24 tracks on 2 inch tape and it's a very reliable machine with most of the features other pro decks have. It sounds good like a 2" inch deck should and is very easy to use, but not in the same ballpark as a Studer, tough. Mechanics are impressive and it punches very fast. It is also a pretty quiet machine.

Users normally report problems finding parts and the very fragile buttons breaking. It comes with the autolocator and you have the option to connect an external Dolby unit for noise reduction.
There's was also a 32 version from Tascam.
This machine was $40.000 new and now can be found for cheap and it's a workhorse. It was obviously released to compete with Otari machines, but seems that not too many units were sold.
Although it has the name Tascam on it, ATR-80 is definitely a pro deck!
